Plane tickets: $1500; Hotel: $400; Dr. Wong: Priceless

So we got back about a week ago from Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Dr. Wong. Jon and I seriously can't believe the difference between the testing and care they provided and what we have gotten thus far. We found out that Connor has a very small hole in his heart which isn't uncommon for kids. But for a kid with Duchenne, it would need to be repaired in the next 2-3 years (if it doesn't correct itself in the mean time). It's amazing that we found a Doctor that really knows what she is doing.

Connor did really well on the plane both ways and even through all the appointments thanks to Shannon, the Child Life Specialist. If she wasn't there to entertain Connor, we wouldn't have had the focus to really discuss all the things that we needed. Jon and Dr. Wong had an in depth conversation about Steroids and she sold him on it (and Jon's a fighter). Her focus is to improve the quality of life using diet, steroids, supplements, etc. until a cure is found. So now we have a few follow ups like finding someone to do night braces for Connor and finding a Doctor to do follow up care until we decide how often we can afford going to Cincinnati. As Jon said, "I wish we could bring Dr. Wong back to Boston in one of our suitcases."

We also have amazingly huge thank yous to Dawn, Kris and Fiona for taking care of the other kids while we were away. Especially since there was a snow-pocalypse which I'm sure made things even more fun. :) I'm glad you all survived and thank you, thank you, thank you!
